Training Rungs

The Right Training Starts With the Right Rung

Every dog starts in a different place. Age, past training, current habits, temperament, and your goals all help determine where training should begin.  Den to Disciplined uses a rung-by-rung approach, building communication, structure, and reliability before moving into more advanced training.  Whether you are starting with a young puppy, working through established habits, preparing for real-world distractions, or needing more customized behavior or public access training, we begin with the foundation your dog needs and build from there.

Starting Pawsition | Puppy Training

A 3-session in-home puppy training program designed to help you and your new puppy build the right foundation from the start. Training covers leadership, house and crate training, routines, socialization, structured play, threshold training, impulse control, leash manners, and the five core cues: Heel, Sit, Stay, Come, and Down.

Next Rung | Basic Obedience Dog Training

Designed for dogs beyond the early puppy stage who need stronger structure, clearer communication, and foundational obedience. This four-session in-home program teaches the five core cues — Heel, Sit, Stay, Come, and Down — while working on leash manners, structured play, threshold training, impulse control, and calm leadership.

Out & About | Real-World Dog Training

This six-session program builds on basic obedience by helping dogs become more reliable in everyday life and higher-distraction environments.

Training begins at home and in the yard, then progresses rung by rung into more challenging settings as your dog demonstrates readiness. We focus on impulse control, calm decision-making, and neutrality around people, dogs, and new environments.

Out & About can also be a strong next step for dogs needing behavior modification support, future public access preparation, or additional time to replace unwanted habits with calmer, more reliable behavior.

Behavior Modification | Customized Behavior Training

For dogs needing more focused support beyond basic obedience, Behavior Modification is a customized training path built around your dog’s individual needs. Training may address reactivity, fear, anxiety, overstimulation, barking, lunging, impulse-control challenges, or other behaviors that interfere with everyday life.

Because every dog and household is different, the number of sessions and training plan are determined after evaluating your dog’s history, environment, current behaviors, and progress.

Public Access | Customized Public Access Training

Public Access Training is an advanced, customized training path for dogs working toward calm, reliable behavior in public environments. Training focuses on neutrality, leash control, impulse control, environmental confidence, appropriate behavior around people and other dogs, and the ability to remain focused in increasingly distracting settings.

Public access readiness depends on the individual dog, so training is evaluated and built rung by rung after foundational obedience is established.

Not sure where your dog should begin? We’ll help determine the right starting rung based on age, behavior, training history, and your goals.
